Leeds United moved to secure no less than six loan signings this summer, with only four being actual new faces at the club, this former player believes that this one of the six has got off to a flyer and will keep his place.
Jack Harrison is on his second successive loan period with the West Yorkshire giants, hoping to put right what was, in his own admission, a disappointing term last time out, not only as Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion, but also his own form.
The Manchester City winger (22) was back in pre-season training way before anyone else this summer in a bid to get himself in the best shape possible ahead of the new season and this has showed so far. He found the net several times during re season and also scored against Bristol City last week in the clubs curtain raiser for the new campaign.
He looks lean and hungry to impress this year, with a direct and tricky approach making it hard for defenders to handle him, this has not been lost on former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan.
Speaking with Football Insider, Whelan spoke of the players good start and his expectation that Harrison would keep his spot in the Leeds starting XI this season…
“We said before the start of the season he’s got a point to prove and he proved it the other day (versus Bristol City). We said we needed more assists and goals, he got a goal.
“No one’s going to be taking his place, that’s for sure.”
I glowing endorsement for a player who seemed to struggle a little to adapt last season, but still managed to score some important goals.
Leeds fans will be hoping to see the very best from the winger this time around, as they stake yet another claim for Premier League football.
