Birmingham City midfielder on the radar of European clubs

According to a report from Birmingham Live, Birmingham City attacker Kerim Mrabti is attracting interest from a number of European sides, with German side Hamburg and Portuguese outfit Braga among those credited with interest.

Despite only joining Birmingham City in the January transfer window, Kerim Mrabti is now being linked with a move away from St Andrew’s. He missed out on the Blues’ 1-1 draw against Bristol City through a hamstring injury after coming off the bench in their season opener versus Brentford.

While the club are not actively looking to sell Mrabti and the Swedish midfielder is not looking to push through with a move away from the club, a number of sides are interested in bringing him in before the European transfer window closes at the end of the month.

It is said that multiple clubs have expressed interest in Mrabti, with German side Hamburg and Portugal’s SC Braga the only clubs named in the report.

With the likes of Dan Crowley and Fran Villalba coming in to play in an advanced midfield role, Mrabti will have to compete for a place in Pep Clotet’s side, so could find his minutes limited.

In his brief time with Birmingham City since joining from Swedish side Djurgardens in January of this year, the 25-year-old Swede has made 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and laying on one assist in the process.

It will be interesting to see if Clotet sanctions a move away for Mrbati or looks to keep him at the club, or if Mrabti is tempted away from the Championship by the lure of European clubs.
