Cardiff City reportedly had a bid rejected by Real Betis for striker Loren Morón on Thursday.

The Bluebirds made an approach for the 25-year-old which was rebuffed by the La Liga side, according to a report by Sport Witness.

Cardiff ended up bringing Isaac Vassell from Birmingham City to Wales and he had a dream debut for Neil Warnock’s side yesterday when he scored a late minute winner against his former club Luton Town at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Morón, who is 6ft 2inc, was a striker the Bluebirds identified as a potential signing last week with Real Betis keen to offload him this summer. However, the Championship sides’ bid was seen as too low.

The transfer window in England has now slammed shut for teams in the top two tiers but Morón has until the end of the month to move to another side in Europe, which is a distinct possibility.

The Costa Del Sol-born striker started his career at Unión Estepona CF before spells at local sides UD Marbella and Marbella CF. He had an impressive loan spell at Velez in the 2014/15 season where he scored 14 goals in 21 games which earned him a move to Betis.

Morón was a regular for their B team before being promoted into their first team two years ago. He has since made 60 appearances for the Estadio Benito Villamarín club, chipping in with 15 goals.
