Sheffield Wednesday front-runners for Stevie May

Sheffield Wednesday are believed to be the front-runners for the signature of highly-rated Scottish striker Stevie May.

According to The Courier, Rotherham United were in the driving seat but they were unwilling to meet St Johnstone’s valuation of the 21-year-old, which is reported to be £800,000. However, Owls manager Stuart Gray has now made his interest known and the South Yorkshire club are willing to meet the club’s price tag for May.

A video from STV reveals that contact was made yesterday and that a deal could be done in the near future. May is expected to play in the Saints’ Europa League qualifier tonight in Slovakia in what may be his final game for the club. The youngster notched 20 goals in 38 games last season in the Scottish Premier League and has attracted the attention of top-flight clubs in recent months.
