Middlesbrough, West Brom and Huddersfield interested in former Hull City forward

According to Sky Sports live blog (07/08 at 19:06pm), three sides are vying for the signature of Hull City striker Fraizer Campbell.

Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town are all interested in the experienced forward, who was most recently on the books at Hull City. Campbell was ultimately released at the end of his contract last season and is currently a free agent.

The 31-year old has had successful spells at Sunderland and Cardiff and was a key part of Hull’s push for the play offs last season. Albeit finishing in 13th position, he scored 12 goals in all competitions for the Tigers, making 39 appearances.

According to the report, Huddersfield are leading West Brom and Middlesbrough in the pursuit for the forward. The Terriers are eyeing Campbell as a back up for Karlan Grant and Steve Mounie, whereas West Brom have only brought in Cardiff’s Kenneth Zahore are yet to replace the outgoing Jay Rodriguez, who joined Premier League side Burnley earlier in the window.

Middlesbrough also saw Jordan Hugill return to parent club West Ham United at the end of last season, and Head Coach Jonathan Woodgate only has Britt Assombalonga, Ashley Fletcher and Rudy Gestede at his disposal this season, and could be eyeing a cheap deal to add to his options.

During his career Frazier Campbell has won the Community Shield with Manchester United, has achieved promotion to the Premier League through the play offs with Hull in 2008, and won the Championship title with Cardiff City in the 2012-2013 season.
