“We are working on one more” – Middlesbrough boss gives transfer update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Middlesbrough’s game against Brentford at the Riverside Stadium this weekend, Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate gave fans the latest transfer update.

With the transfer window due to close tomorrow evening, Middlesbrough are hoping to get some new faces through the door. The club have made four permanent signings so far this summer, with Tomas Mejias, Marcus Browne, Marc Bola and Anfernee Dijksteel all arriving on Teesside.

Woodgate confirmed they are looking at signing one other player ahead of tomorrow’s deadline, but was tight-lipped on what area of the pitch he was hoping to recruit in.

“We are working on one more” he said. “I’m not going to tell you what position but we are working hard.

“We are working on a few different options and if it is the right one we will do it, if it is not then we won’t. It’s as simple as that.

“Myself, Neil (Bausor – Chief Executive) and Adrian (Bevington – Head of Recruitment Operations) know what we want and we will try to get it done.”

Woodgate was also quizzed on outgoings as well as incomings, but said there wasn’t any need for players to depart, and that he was content with how his squad is at the moment.

“We don’t need to get players out of the door, there’s no pressure there. I’m happy with the squad I’ve got.

Don’t get me wrong, things can change overnight but at the minute I’m really happy with the squad.”
