Dawson joined the Glovers in January 2013, signing a permanent deal along with fellow Irishman Paddy Maddden. Madden has since moved on, but Dawson suffered an indifferent season in the Championship. Despite racking up 35 appearances in the second tier, the winger was in and out of the side and impressed more towards the end of the season. It is little surprise, therefore, that the 24 year old has been a consistent performer in pre – season. His fitness has impressed Gary Johnson and he played 90 minutes earlier than any other squad member. Johnson will hope that Dawson can re – create the form he possessed the last time he was in League 1. He scored the opening goal in the Play – Off semi final second leg against Sheffield United. He will be a threat with his natural pace and phenomenal work rate and will look to add to his goal tally for the club having scored 3 goals in 55 appearances.
