4 Players that could stand out for Yeovil Town this year

Yeovil Town fans have welcomed many faces to Huish Park this summer and as a result are cautiously optimistic for the new season. Hopeful of a play off push, here are four players who might be worth looking out for as the League 1 season begins.

Watford v Yeovil 3011131. JOE EDWARDS

Having first joined the Glovers in January 2012 on loan from Bristol City, Edwards enjoyed two separate spells at Yeovil which prompted a permanent move in January 2013. His success continued that year as he helped the Glovers secure promotion to the Championship for the first time in their history. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, Edwards extended his contract committing to the club until at least the end of this season. Despite the team suffering relegation last season, Edwards was the only player to start every single match in the Championship and proved a vital part of the team. This season he is set to become captain of the side and will be looking to perform consistently as he did in the second tier. Having started his career as a defender he has since made the central midfield role his own. Taking on a leadership role will signify a step up and his creativity on the ball could cause defences all sorts of problems in League 1. Having received the player of the year award for Yeovil Town last year, this fans favourite will be looking to add goals to his game, with just 2 goals in 85 appearances for the club, as he looks to lead the squad to a play – off position. At just 23, Edwards has experienced much success since departing Ashton Gate and will look to add to make amends for relegation in the last year of his current contract.
