Sheffield Wednesday set to secure deal for Leeds United and Forest linked target

The next days of the current transfer window, it closes tomorrow at 5 p.m., is set to no doubt see a flurry of deals concluded as clubs look to position themselves for the 2019 part of their 2019/20 campaign.

It’s no doubt expected that all clubs will have their identified targets and will work towards bringing them in and setting up their short-term plans and outlooks. Sheffield Wednesday are one of these sides and are said, by London Football News, to be setting themselves to land QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo.

Australian international Luongo has just this year left on his current deal and sides often take advantage of this in their approaches to clubs. That’s what London Football News says set to happen, that the midfielder “is set for a move to Hillsborough ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.”

This tying up of loose ends comes after Luongo was linked to a move away from QPR to in late June by West London Sport after they accepted that he wouldn’t sign a contract extension.

Wednesday’s move for Luongo is supported by a West London Sport article, who also say that the Owls are looking to tie up loose ends by Thursday’s deadline.

The 26-year-old Australian midfielder, he has 42 Socceroo caps, arrived at QPR in a near £4million transfer in 2015 from Swindon Town.  He was a transfer interest for both Leeds United and Nottingham Forest earlier in this transfer window but both the Whites and Forest have moved on to alternative targets.

As it stands, the Owls will be the side tying up a deal for Luongo who featured 41 times for QPR in last season’s Sky Bet Championship where he scored three goals and laid on four assists.
