Middlesbrough are being linked with a move for Fleetwood Town forward Wes Burns.
Boro could make an approach for the 24-year-old before the transfer deadline on Thursday, according to a report by the Hartlepool Mail.
Jonathan Woodgate’s side are still in the hunt for acquisitions to their squad and could be busy over the next 24 hours or so.
Burns, who is 24 years-old, impressed last season in League One for Joey Barton’s Fleetwood and scored seven goals in all competitions.
He started his career with a spell in the academy at Cardiff City before moving to Bristol City in 2009. The former Wales Under-21 international went onto make 54 appearances altogether for the Robins’ senior side.
Burns also enjoyed various loan spells away from Ashton Gate with the likes of Forest Green Rovers, Oxford United, Cheltenham Town, Fleetwood and Aberdeen.
The Cod Army then signed him on a permanent basis from Bristol City in January 2017 and he has been on their books since then.
Fleetwood are many people’s dark horses for promotion from the third tier this season and Burns is an integral part of their side so Barton will not want to lose him to Middlesbrough.
However, money talks and Boro may see him as someone who would bolster their attacking options and potentially have a bright future at the Riverside.
