Hull City are interested in Sheffield United defender Ben Heneghan.

The Tigers are keen on bringing in another centre-back before the transfer deadline on Thursday and could turn to the 25-year-old, according to Sky Sports.

Heneghan has been transfer-listed by the Blades this summer and will leave for the right price. He still has a year left on his contract at Bramall Lane but his first team opportunities there are limited in the Premier League.

He had an impressive loan spell in League One with Blackpool last season and played 49 times for the Seadsiders in all competitions.

Heneghan, who was born in Manchester, started his career with spells in the academies at Everton and Stoke City before dropping into non-league with Chester in 2014.
He impressed in his two years at the Deva Stadium and was snapped up by Scottish Premiership side Motherwell in 2016.

Heneghan became a key player for the Well and moved to Sheffield United in August 2017 for an undisclosed fee. However, he found opportunities hard to come by in his first season in Yorkshire, hence why he was loaned out to Blackpool in the last campaign.

Grant McCann’s Hull are in the hunt for a couple of signings over the next two days and are also interested in Doncaster Rovers midfielder Ben Whiteman, as reported by The72 earlier today.
