Millwall lining up loan move for Nottingham Forest goalkeepr

Millwall are lining up a loan move for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele.

The Lions are eager to bring the 34-year-old to The Den before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to a report by Football Insider.

Neil Harris’ side have been in the hunt for a new goalkeeper following summer signing Frank Fielding’s injury on Saturday and seem to have found their man in Steele.

Steele, who is a former England Under-20 international, is a vastly experienced ‘keeper and has racked up over 350 appearances in his career. He is down the pecking order at Forest at the moment, hence why they are set to let him leave to a fellow Championship side.

The Peterborough-born stopper started his career with the Posh before Manchester United snapped him up in 2002. He never played for their first team and left to join West Brom after a loan spell away at Coventry City.

Steele was used as a back-up at the Hawthorns and left for Barnsley in 2007. He became a key player for the Tykes and played 227 times for the Oakwell club altogether.

He then made a surprise switch to Greek side Panathaniakos in 2014 and went onto play 97 games for the Super League outfit before returning to England with Bristol City two years ago.

Steele was then snapped up by Forest last summer but looks to be on the move again now with Millwall likely to acquire him this week.
