Birmingham City in negotiations with Spanish giants over deal for young midfielder

According to a report from Spanish news outlet AS, Birmingham City are in conversations with Spanish giants Valencia over a permanent deal for young midfielder Fran Villalba, as Pep Clotet looks to add to his ranks before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday evening.

Birmingham City manager Pep Clotet has already used his links to the Spanish game this summer by bringing in Real Madrid youngster Moha Gomes on loan for the season with a view to a permanent deal next summer. And, he could be set to bring in another young Spanish talent before the window closes on Thursday.

The Blues are reportedly in negotiations with La Liga giants Valencia over a deal for 21-year-old midfielder Fran Villalba. The two clubs are in conversations over a deal with the finer details being negotiated. A proposed deal could see Birmingham bring him in on a permanent basis and any sell-on fee they received for Villalba in the future would see Valencia get a portion of it. But, there would be no buy-back clause included.

The clubs are working quickly to complete a deal before the deadline with Villalba keen on a move to England.

An attacking midfielder, Villalba has come through the academy at Valencia and has made his breakthrough into senior football. After playing 79 times for the club’s second team, he has played four times for the senior side. He spent last season on loan with CD Numancia, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in 40 games.

It will be interesting to see how quickly a move progresses with the transfer window closing on Thursday.
