Hull City poised to loan out defender amid interest from the lower leagues

Hull City are expected to loan out defender Lewis Ritson.

The 20-year-old is attracting interest from the lower leagues ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday, according to a report by Football Insider.

Ritson, who is from Hull, is far down the pecking order under Grant McCann and is likely to leave for more first team opportunities.

He is highly-rated by Hull and was on their bench on a few occasions last season. He is key player for their Under-23’s and did well for them in the last campaign.

He trains with the first-team regularly and was taken on their pre-season tour to Marbella last month.

Ritson joined his home-town club at the age of 16 and rose through the youth ranks at the KCOM Stadium. He has been linked with loan moves to the likes of Scunthorpe United, Barnsley and Port Vale earlier this year but nothing materialised.

Hull loaned out midfielder Ben Sheaf to League Two side Cheltenham Town and Ritson is expected to follow him out of the door this week. The likes of Keane Lewis-Potter and Jacob Greaves are two other young Tigers who could also go out on loan for more first team experience.

McCann’s side may also offload senior left-back Stephen Kingsley over the next few days, with Celtic keen, as reported by The72 yesterday.
