Wigan Athletic poised to sign Barnsley striker for £4million

Wigan Athletic are looking to capture the signing of Barnsley striker Kieffer Moore for around £4million according to Football Insider.

The Latics are looking to seal the deal for Moore as they aim to strengthen their attacking options for this season. Moore is believed to be poised to sign a three-year-deal at the DW Stadium.

The fee was agreed last week but now talks have been held and discussions are believed to have been positive and he is now ready to sign a contract with the Northern club.

Wigan boss Paul Cook has been determined to add some serious firepower to his side before the close of the transfer window and it appears he is close to solving that problem with the signing of Moore.

The powerful forward scored 19 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions to help Barnsley secure promotion from League One to the Championship. His impressive record for the Tykes has alerted Wigan as they aim to improve on last season’s 18th place finish.

Moore was with Barnsley when they were relegated from the second tier of English football in the previous season and he struggled in front of goal but Wigan are hoping he can replicate last season’s form with them this campaign.

The 26-year-old missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fulham further highlighting the deal to take him to Wigan is edging ever closer.

Paul Cook’s side are making serious inroads in the transfer market this summer as Moore would become their third signing within the space of a week. Jamal Lowe joined the club in a deal thought to be in the region of £3million on Thursday on the same day Dujon Sterling completed a season-long loan move from Chelsea.

Should the new signings bed in well for the Latics they could be well set for a top half finish this current campaign.
