Kemar Roofe joined Leeds United in 2016 in a £3m switch from Oxford United, making him one of the most expensive outlays the club had made since relegation from the Premier League in 2004, followed by a boat-load of expectation.

In his first season with Leeds, that expectation diminished as his goal return was nowhere near what the club or fans would have hoped, mainly through him being predominantly played as a winger, not his preferred position.

Since then, Roofe (26) has been the clubs top scorer for the last two seasons, bagging fifteen in 2018/19, embedding him firmly in the clubs future plans, or at least that is what the fans thought.

Reports today from local journalist, Phil Hay, indicate that Kemar Roofe is the subject of serious interest from Belgian top flight club Anderlecht, with new manager Vincent Kompany identifying the hit-man as a £7m summer recruit.

Since then, Hay has moved to confirm that the player is still in Leeds, but a move could well happen with Kompany’s side, leaving betrothed fans to consider the potential of going into the new campaign with only one recognised striker in Patrick Bamford, a striker that is suffering from a huge loss of confidence this pre-season, failing to find the net even once.

Hays post on Twitter to deliver the news was met with condemnation by Whites supporters, who are quickly losing confidence in the clubs intentions as the season creeps ever closer.

Here are some of those reactions, notice the common denominator…

It appears the only man that the fans will be satisfied with as a replacement is Dwight Gayle of Newcastle United, a player who scored twenty two goals in the Championship last season and a player who many clubs would lust after should they get the chance.

I agree with the fans perception on this one, Dwight Gayle is a proven and prolific player, especially at Championship level and given the funds that Leeds have brought in this summer, plus any funds received for Roofe, it would be a no brainer.
