Reading look set to beat Middlesbrough to loan signing of Torino attacker

According to a report from the Reading Chronicle, Reading are set to complete the signing of Torino attacker Lucas Boye on loan ahead of the new season. Fellow Championship side Middlesbrough were also keen, but it is the Royals who appear to have won the race for Boye’s signature.

We reported here on The72 earlier this week that Championship side Middlesbrough were interested in signing attacker Lucas Boye from Italian Serie A side Torino. However, it has now been revealed that it is fellow second-tier side Reading who appear to have won the race for Boye, swooping in to bring him to the Madejski Stadium on loan.

The report from the Reading Chronicle states that Boye, 23, has undergone a medical with Reading and an announcement is just around the corner, much to the relief of Jose Gomes who has been determined to add more firepower to his ranks ahead of the new season.

Boye mainly operates as a left-sided winger, but has also featured heavily through the middle and plays on the right side when needed. He came through the youth academy at River Plate, starting his career in his home country of Argentina. Boye played 32 times for the River Plate senior team before leaving for Italy to link up with Torino in 2016.

The attacker has spent the last two seasons out on loan in Spain with Celta Vigo and in Greece with AEK Athens. Now, it seems just a matter of time before his move to Reading is confirmed, with a deal agreed and medical completed.
