Swansea City close on deal for former Liverpool winger – fee agreed

According to a report from Wales Online, Championship side Swansea City have agreed a deal to sign former Liverpool winger Kristoffer Peterson in a £500,000 deal with Dutch side Heracles Almelo.

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is determined to further bolster his ranks ahead of the new season and it has now been reported that the Swans have agreed a deal to sign a new winger.

Former Liverpool man Kristoffer Peterson – now playing in The Netherlands for Heracles Almelo – is closing in on a move to the Liberty Stadium, with Swansea City forking out £500,000 to bring him in this summer. Peterson is likely to arrive in Wales today (Wednesday) and it seems only a matter of time before the move is confirmed.

Should Peterson’s move go through without hitting any late hitches, he will become Swansea’s third signing of the summer transfer window, with defenders Jake Bidwell and Ben Wilmot completing moves earlier this summer.

Swedish international Peterson started his youth career in his home country with Savedalens IF before making a move to England to join up with Liverpool. He spent three years in the youth set-up with the club, playing most of his football for the Reds’ Under-18s and Under-23s teams. He spent a short stint out on loan with Tranmere Rovers before making a move to The Netherlands with FC Utrecht.

He scored four goals and provided five assists in 43 games in three years with the club, leaving for Heracles in 2017. Peterson has enjoyed a successful stint with Heracles Almelo, scoring 25 and assisting 13 in his two seasons with the club, bagging 12 in 35 from out wide last season.

The Swans’ deal to sign Peterson for £500,000 appears to be a shrewd bit of business and the Championship side will be hoping he can emulate his form of the past two seasons in a new environment.
