Blackburn Rovers deal for Manchester City defender “sorted” after delay

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Blackburn Rovers’ deal to sign Manchester City centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo on loan for the upcoming season has been “sorted” after the reportedly imminent deal was delayed.

We reported here on The72 last week that Blackburn Rovers’ signing of defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Manchester City on loan for the upcoming season was imminent, with reports claiming that the City youngster would be almost instantly following Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton through the door.

However, a deal seemed to stall and as negotiations went on with little breakthrough, Rovers fans had started to get concerned that a deal for the former West Brom loanee would not be completed. Now, it has been claimed by journalist Alan Nixon that a deal which will see Adarabioyo make the move to Ewood Park this summer has been “sorted”, saying on Twitter:

Adarabioyo has made his way through the youth academy at Manchester City, playing for the club’s Under-23s side 44 times, having played for City’s Under-18s side 10 times as well. He has also represented his club in the UEFA Youth League, playing 19 times in the competition.

Pep Guardiola sent him out on loan for the 2018/19 season to allow him to gather some more senior game time. Adarabioyo joined West Brom on loan and featured across the backline for the Baggies, playing 36 times for the club across all competitions.

Adarabioyo’s impending arrival will calm the worries of Blackburn Rovers supporters and manager Tony Mowbray, with the youngster coming in to add some much-needed depth and competition to the club’s backline. German centre-back Robin Bormuth has also been linked, so it will be interesting to see if Rovers pursue a deal or not with Adarabioyo set to arrive.
