Millwall bring keeper deal back from the doldrums with striker going the other way

Millwall have revived their deal to sign Ipswich goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

It has been a saga that has rolled on during the summer. Millwall had bid for the keeper and agreed a fee in the region of £900,000 and agreed personal terms but then after completing his medical, a problem arose meaning that the deal fell through.

However, according to The East Anglian Times both clubs have now found a way of making the deal happen, all be it, a little different to how it was originally planned.

Millwall have made Tom Elliott available, the striker has found life tough at Millwall since joining the club in the summer of 2017 and with Tom Bradshaw,  Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Matt Smith and Aiden O’Brien competing with him for a striking berth it looks as if Elliott would be at the back of that queue.

The new proposed deal would see Millwall sign Bialkowski and Elliott head to Portman Road both on season long loan deals which both clubs would then have the chance to review next summer as to whether they should be made into permanent deals.

There was speculation earlier this summer that Elliott could have been part of the original deal but Ipswich preferred a cash deal at the time but with time running out in the window they now seem prepared to accept the 6ft 4in striker heading to Portman Road.

Elliott’s contract expires last the end of the season, he has scored nine goals since his arrival at Millwall but has found it hard to get a consistent run in the first team. Injures have also made life tough for him, he missed the end of last season through injury and is currently on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in Millwall’s 4-0 win at Concord Rangers.
