Cardiff City face competition from Fulham, Sheffield United and Stoke City for Bournemouth midfielder

Cardiff City are interested in Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter but face competition for his signature according to sources close to The Sun.

Fulham, Sheffield United and Stoke City are also believed to be interested in Arter who appears to be surplus to requirements for Eddie Howe’s side.

The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at the Bluebirds and are keen to bring him back to the Cardiff City Stadium but the Cherries are looking to sell him on a permanent deal for around £8million.

Neil Warnock’s side are looking to improve their midfield options upon their return to the Championship and Arter became a huge fans’ favourite last season despite their relegation woes.

The news comes after Huddersfield Town accepted a bid of around £15million from Bournemouth for their midfielder Philip Billing and now Arter looks increasingly likely to move on in light of this.

Fulham could well be favourites to make a move given that Arter’s brother-in-law Scott Parker is in the Craven Cottage dugout, but reports have claimed that the Cottagers are so far only able to offer a loan move.

However with finances at Fulham being more strained following their relegation to the Championship they will need to offload a couple of players before registering a firm interest in Arter.

Arter has been out of favour at Bournemouth and should the right deal be offered he could be on his way out of the Vitality Stadium on a permanent basis this summer.

Sheffield United have spent an increasing amount of money for their return to the Premier League and with the recruitment of Ben Osborn and Ravel Morrison, they have already made midfield reinforcements.

A way out of Bournemouth may be the way for the Arter as he looks to gain regular first team football at a crucial stage of his career.
