Leeds United attacker on the radar of League One side – attracting interest from abroad

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has revealed that the League One side could bring in young Leeds United attacker Oliver Sarkic on loan after he played in a pre-season friendly for the Brewers.

Leeds United youngster Oliver Sarkic started for League One side Burton Albion on Saturday, as Nigel Clough’s side ran away 5-2 winners over National League side Chesterfield. The 22-year-old played 58 minutes for the club with Clough running the rule over Sarkic as he looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Now, Clough will talk to Sarkic regarding his situation heading into the new season, with the Leeds United man also attracting the attention of teams from abroad. Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, Clough said:

“I’m not sure yet,” he said when asked about the possibility of signing Sarkic on loan from Leeds United.

“He (Sarkic) has got a couple of offers from abroad, I think, so I’m just going to have a chat with him now. His representative put us on to him, so we’ll see what his situation is.

“He’s played very little football so far this pre-season, and that was the only thing – he’s just a bit short, fitness-wise.

“But with us being so short on bodies, we’re just going to check out the situation. He’d be extra to what we are already looking at.

“I told you on Tuesday that we had a loan lined up – but with David Templeton getting injured, we had to change to other priorities, which we have done. We’ve got an okay on one which should be Tuesday next week. Sarkic will be extra to that if we can.”
