The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Middlesbrough will now look to step up their chase for Blackpool’s highly-rated left-back Marc Bola, who has also been linked with fellow Championship side Brentford.
League One side Blackpool only signed defender Marc Bola on a free transfer last summer, bringing him in on the cheap after his release from Premier League side Arsenal. Now, however, it seems likely that they will be allowing him to make a move away, making a hefty profit in doing so.

The move will surely see Bola given a clear path to make the step up to the Championship this summer. With Boro boss Johnathan Woodgate keen to bolster his ranks, the club will look to swoop for the defender, hoping to beat Brentford in the process.
The 21-year-old started his career in the Arsenal youth academy, making his way through the Under-18s (five games, one goal) and the Under-23s (30 games, one goal and one assist). He has also played 16 times for the club’s UEFA Youth League side, collecting experience on a European youth level.
The London born youngster picked up first-team experience while on loan with Notts County (13 games, one assist) and Bristol Rovers (23 games, one assist) before leaving Arsenal on a free transfer to join Blackpool. Last season, he played 43 games, scoring twice and providing three assists.
