Ipswich Town’s hefty £5m valuation of young star cools interest from Premier League side

It has been reported by the Eastern Daily Press that Premier League new boys Norwich City have cooled their interest in Ipswich Town starlet Andre Dozzell after their rivals slapped a hefty £5 million price tag on the youngster.

We reported here on The72 earlier this week that Norwich City were looking at the possibility of a swoop on their East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town, with young midfielder Andre Dozzell said to be on their radar ahead of the new season.

Now, however, it has been claimed that the Canaries have cooled their interest in the Tractor Boys’ youngster after Ipswich slapped a £5 million price tag on his head. Daniel Farke’s side are yet to make an offer for the highly-rated Town youngster, but they had been in contact over the possibility of a deal.

Ipswich boss Paul Lambert has addressed the interest in Dozzell from their vicious rivals, saying that it would take a “heck of a lot of money” for them to consider allowing Dozzell to leave, especially to a Premier League side and even more so to a rival.

“There’s not been anything (bids) that’s come in. Unless somebody tells me what’s going to happen, you can talk all you want and speculate.

“If it’s Premier League clubs then it’s got to be a heck of a lot of money that moves anybody. I’ve been in the Premier League, I know the level of money, so for any player, it’s going to have to be a hell of a lot of money.

“Money is the nature of the game, the money is vast in the game whether it’s Norwich or somebody else in the Premier League, could be anybody. Money dictates a hell of a lot of things in football. He’s a good footballer, he’s got a long way to go in his career.

“He’s nowhere near the finished article whatsoever. He’s got to learn, he’s got a lot to learn without the ball, but on the ball, he’s very, very good.”
