Nottingham Forest rule out sale of defender amid Hull City and QPR interest

According to a report from Nottinghamshire Live, Nottingham Forest will not be entertaining offers for defender Joe Worrall, amid reported interest from Hull City and Queens Park Rangers.

It had been reported by Football Insider earlier this week that Hull City and Queens Park Rangers were looking to make a move for defender Joe Worrall from fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest. However, the links between the Forest academy graduate and the Championship pair have been rebuffed by Forest, who are taking a stern stance regarding Worrall.

The club have already turned down approaches for the defender and they will not be entertaining any offers for him as he features in the plans fo new manager Sabri Lamouchi. It was speculated that either Hull or QPR could look to pounce before the start of the season, with Worrall working hard over pre-season to earn his place in Lamouchi’s plans. With these latest reports emerging, he has succeeded in doing so.

He had fallen down the pecking order under former manager Aitor Karanka and was allowed to leave on loan, linking up with Scottish Premiership side Rangers last season. During his time at Ibrox, Worrall played 32 times for Steven Gerrard’s side, netting once before returning to the City Ground earlier this summer. And now, it seems he is here to stay.

Worrall has been on the books at Forest since the age of 14 and spent five years in the academy before breaking through into the first team in the 2016/17 Championship season. By the time he was 21, the defender had played 56 games for Nottingham Forest, making 31 appearances during the 2017/18 Championship campaign.
