Daniel Bentley – Southend
Ignoring Daniel Bentley in a previous list similar to this one saw a few choice words on Twitter, which will probably happen again, but no-one can ignore how well the 21-year-old has played for Southend United over the past few seasons. Fans and opponents alike have both mentioned just how well the young goalkeeper has played and it’s shown, with Leeds declaring an interest before Brian McDermott’s sacking.
With great shot-stopping ability, a command of his defence and a knack for penalty saving, it won’t be too long until Bentley begins to attract strong interest from clubs in higher divisions. He’ll be hopeful for another strong campaign to help Southend’s promotion push and the club will simply hope that he doesn’t impress too many suitors in the process, unless those suitors have deep pockets.
