Cardiff City keen to snap up Leeds United and Derby County linked striker – £1m bid readied

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Championship newcomers Cardiff City are ready to make a £1 million move to try and sign Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy ahead of the new season.

Cardiff City are preparing to make a £1 million bid to try and bring Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy to the Welsh capital, as manager Neil Warnock looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.

Brophy was linked with Championship pair Leeds United and Derby County earlier this summer and now it has been claimed that the Bluebirds are ready to try and tempt him away from Kilmarnock this summer. It is said by the Daily Mail that Kilmarnock are willing to listen to offers for Brophy this summer.

The 23-year-old managed to net 12 goals in 33 games for Killie depsite missing matches through injury in chunks last season. He kicked off the new campaign with a goal in the Europa League against Connah’s Quay, but it was not enough as Kilmarnock were surprisingly knocked out by the Welsh side.

Brophy has spent the entirety of his short career in Scotland, joining giants Celtic as a seven-year-old. He spent eight years in the academy, before playing in the youth ranks of Hibernian and Hamilton Academical.

Brophy made his senior debut with Hamilton back in 2013, scoring on his first start. He was then sent on loan two Scottish League Two side Queen’s Park for the last few months of the 2013/14 season, where he picked up an impressive seven goals in nine games. A loan spell with Dumbarton F.C did not go so well in the next campaign, netting just once in 10 games.
