Nottingham Forest eyeing up move for former Hull City hotshot

According to a report from the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest are eyeing up a move for Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez, who is available on a free transfer after he left Russian side CSKA Moscow earlier this summer.

Striker Abel Hernandez has only been away from the English game for one year, having left Championship side Hull City at the end of last season to join CSKA Moscow. But now, he is being linked with a return to England, with new Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi said keen on bringing the 28-year-old to the City Ground ahead of the new season.

Hernandez is available on a free transfer and a number of clubs from across the world are reportedly interested in bringing the former Hull City man in on a bargain deal. Alongside Nottingham Forest are Turkish side Trabzonspor, Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan and Uruguayan club Penarol – with the latter attracting the attention of Hernandez.

But, Hernandez has said he is keeping his options open ahead of the upcoming season with a number of clubs keen to bring him in, adding that he wants to go somewhere that will boost his chances of playing for the Uruguay national team.

The striker was a prolific scorer in the Championship during his time with Hull City. He struggled with injury problems over the course of his time with the Tigers but managed to net an impressive 28 goals in 49 Championship matches, including 22 across all competitions in the 2015/16 season as they won promotion to the Premier League.
