Easter Road return for Reading forward unlikely for now according to Hibs boss

Reading striker Marc McNulty is unlikely to return to loan club Hibernian this summer with the Leith-based outfit having declared their transfer window activity as done according to reports by the Daily Record.

The 26-year-old Edinburgh-born forward netted eight goals in 17 games for the Hibees during a successful loan spell during the second half of last season.

Hibernian were hoping to bring the player back to Easter Road this season either on loan or on a permanent deal but they were unable to strike a deal with Reading. Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom has made seven additions this summer and he has declared the end of his side’s recruitment in the current window unless there are any major changes in circumstances.

Striker McNulty has struggled at parent club Reading since joining The Royals from Coventry City last summer for an undisclosed fee. The player netted just one goal for the Berkshire side before joining Hibs on loan in January.

McNulty has also been linked with a return to Coventry City this summer but that speculation has not developed. The player enjoyed his most successful campaign south of the border with The Sky Blues, scoring 28 goals in 51 appearances as the club won promotion from Sky Bet League Two at the end of the 2017/2018 campaign.
