Leeds United new man reveals why he turned down other offers to make Whites move

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United’s new arrival Ben White has been discussing the main reasons behind his decision to make the move to Elland Road, despite having offers from other clubs.

It isn’t surprising for it to emerge that Leeds United were not the only side looking to do a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Ben White this summer. The 21-year-old’s performances over the course of the past few years in Brighton’s Under-23s and with Newport County and Peterborough United have shown that he has the potential to become a high-quality centre-back in his career.

And, White too believes in his abilities and is confident that he will be able to make the step up to the Championship to help Leeds United in the 2019/20 campaign.

“I think I’ve got it in me to do it,” White said when discussing taking the place of the Whites’ defensive departures.

“I had a couple of clubs that wanted to take me but Leeds seemed the most interested. We had a meeting in the summer and we discussed what I was looking to do this season and it fitted with my aims. That’s why I came here.”

White went on to discuss Bielsa’s training techniques and how El Loco’s style differs from anything he has previously experienced, adding that he is settling into the Argentine’s scheme well.

“They’ve been different. It’s longer days and sleeping between sessions. It’s been very different for me. I’m learning different things everyday. It’s been really good though and I’m happy with how it’s going.

“Training is nothing like games so it is nice to get the matches underway. It’s all about getting as many minutes as possible ahead of the season.”
