Rangers looking to beat Hull City and Charlton Athletic to loan Liverpool midfielder

Rangers have made an approach for Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane.

The 20-year-old is a man in-demand this summer but the Glasgow side are hoping to lure him to Scotland, according to a report by Football Insider.

Kane, who is a former England Under-17, is also wanted by Championship duo Hull City and Charlton Athletic.

He trained with Liverpool’s Under-23’s last week but has not travelled with the first team on their pre-season tour with him set to leave on loan next season to gain some more experience.

Hull have been linked with Kane for a while based on his relationship with their manager Grant McCann having played for him on loan at Doncaster Rovers last season. He made 49 appearances for the Yorkshire side in all competitions and chipped in with seven goals to help them get into the League One Play-Offs.

The Bristol-born midfielder started his career at Bristol City before moving to Liverpool in 2015. He represented England at Under-17 level as a youngster but is yet to make a first team appearance for the Reds.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wants to use his links with Liverpool to bring Kane to Ibrox. He has already signed Sheyi Ojo on loan from his former club this summer.

Kane’s next move is a big one for his career and he will have to decide whether he wants to play in the Championship or move up to the Scottish Premiership.
