West Brom lodge loan offer for Brazilian winger

According to a report from Portuguese outlet Record (as cited by Birmingham Live), West Brom have made an approach to Primera Liga side Sporting Lisbon for winger Matheus Pereira.

West Brom have already raided Portugal for Benfica’s Croatian playmaker Filip Krovinovic, bringing the 23-year-old in on loan for the upcoming Championship season. However, their raid may not end there, after it was claimed that the Baggies have made a loan move to bring Sporting Lisbon’s Matheus Pereira to the Hawthorns.

The club have reportedly made their move to try and bring Pereira in on a loan deal and they are now awaiting a response from the Portuguese side as Slaven Bilick kicks on with summer recruitment. Bilic is determined to bring in some more new faces ahead of the new season, stating that the upcoming weeks will be important if they want to mount another challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

Pereira, 23, is a Brazilian winger ho can play on either the left-wing or the right-wing. He has made his breakthrough into senior football after coming through the Sporting Lisbon youth academy and could be set for another season out on loan.

He spent last season on loan in Germany with FC Nuremberg, playing 19 games along the way (three goals, two assists). The season prior to last he joined CD Chaves on loan, where he scored eight goals and provided five assists in 30 appearances.

His time at Sporting Lisbon has mainly been with the club’s b-team, but he has also played 27 times for the senior side, scoring six and assisting four goals in 27 matches.
