Former Leeds United defender thinks transfer meetings on Elland Road agenda

Leeds United fans were warned by club owner Andrea Radrizzani that they should expect a pretty lean transfer window this summer. The reason given was the ever-pinching EFL FFP regulations.

Then the Whites went out and brought in former Wolves and Benfica winger Helder Costa on an initial loan with an obligation to buy at the season’s end. They’ve also brought in Ben White and Jack Harrison on loan from Brighton and Manchester City respectively.

Add to that the sale of Jack Clarke, and his subsequent return on a season loan deal, and the Leeds United have a pretty potent look about them. However, after Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa was spotted watching Liverpool take on Bradford City at the weekend, new rumours have been pouring from supposed old interests.

The gist of these new rumours is that the Whites are said to be interested in Liverpool’s exciting winger Ryan Kent. Some observers have gone as far as to say that the West Yorkshire club are ready to place an offer for the young Red, and are equally willing to pay a £1million loan fee.

Former Leeds defender Danny Mills, speaking to website Football Insider, thinks that Bielsa not only jetting out late to Australia, and allegedly coming back early, could point to one thing – transfer interest. Mills says of Bielsa’s truncated involvement in the Australia trip: “He’s quite possibly (working on transfers). He obviously feels that working with those players. He may well have business to do, there may well be other bits and pieces that he wants to be in the country for – to meet players or whoever it might be.”

Leeds United play bitter rivals Manchester United tomorrow in a game that Bielsa will use as a yardstick for the performance of his steeds against what is a very strong Red Devils touring party. It will be interesting to see what the maestro’s next steps are.
