Former Leeds United sweetheart set to join second Premier League club.

In the hearts of Leeds fans, whenever they lose a promising young talent from the club, if they leave the club in a respectful manner they will want that player to flourish and go on to become a world beater… much like James Milner.

However, should the circumstances of any deal which allows home-grown talent, who the club have nurtured and developed from a very young age, is somewhat sour, then it will be quite satisfying to the fans to see that players development halt in the name of justice.

In the case of Sam Byram though, the supporters were split… with half believing the player and his agent were pushing for a move and the other half believing it was the club who wanted rid for the payday, so the direction of the 25-year-old’s career so far, since leaving Leeds for West Ham United for around £6m in 2016, will please few people.

Byram’s development at Elland Road won him many plaudits, with his direct and quick approach, aiding in more attacking areas than most full-backs in the division, and his eye for a goal and an assist, but his move was tinged with sadness and bitterness.

However, since his big money move, things have slowed down a lot for Byram, spending last season on loan out at Nottingham Forest, his career has somewhat slowed to a halt, bobbing around in the murky waters of the Premier League’s unwanted men, until today.

This morning reports have surfaced that he is set to join his second Premier League club in Norwich City, on a permanent basis, for an agreed fee, believed to be around £750,000, according to Sky Sports. Not the kind of money a young, English talent usually demands, but this is a second chance for Sam Byram, with plentiful rumours surrounding current right back, Max Aarons.

So once tipped to be England’s next big thing, Sam Byram finds himself having to win over more admirers, but it’s more of a chance than some young wannabe’s get.
