Speaking on Twitter, Peterborough United chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has rejected claims that the Posh are interested in Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Ed Williams, who is also attracting the attention of Championship pair Birmingham City and Swansea City.

We reported here on The72 on Monday that Championship duo Birmingham City and Swansea City were both interested in Kidderminster Harriers’ goalscoring midfielder Ed Williams, with League One side Peterborough United also claimed to be keen on Williams.

However, speaking on his Twitter page on Monday afternoon, when asked about the links to the non-league midfielder, Posh chairman and co-owner MacAnthony moved quickly to dismiss links with the Kidderminster man, saying:

The 23-year-old has been putting in some impressive performances during his time with Kidderminster Harriers, and it is not the first time Williams has attracted the attention of Championship sides. Last summer, it was claimed that Leeds United, Aston Villa and Derby County were interested in the midfielder, but a move never materialised and he remained with the non-league outfit.

Derby County cool interest in Sheffield Wednesday-linked striker

Williams impressed last season for Kidderminster, scoring 13 goals across all competitions in his first season for the club. He enjoyed a successful stint with Gloucester City prior to his move last summer too. He started out his career in the youth academy with League Two side Cheltenham Town but never made it into the first-team with the club.

With Posh distancing themselves from Williams, it awaits to be seen if Championship pair Birmingham or Swansea follow suit, or if they look to make a move before the start of the new season.
