Leeds United to brace themselves against Burnley interest in two first team stars

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds United are going to have to brace themselves against interest in first team players Kemar Roofe and Mateusz Klich.

In a way, you can understand the interest from the Premier League Clarets. After all, between them, the Whites duo has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists. It is that level of output and production that costs big money when looking at Premier League/top-tier players but it can be bought in much more economically from divisions like the Sky Bet Champ[ionship.

Football Insider says that is just what Burnley have done and that they have “set their sights on the duo” with the intention of taking “advantage of United’s financial problems” that their failed run at promotion brought.

Both Roofe and Klich are in the last years of their current deals, a situation that leaves the Whites in a vulnerable position when it comes to keeping the deadly duo. Talks are said to be ongoing to secure longer deals for the wanted pair.

In an injury-hit campaign for striker Roofe, he still managed to show excellent form in hitting the back of the net 15 times, as well as adding a further two assists. He also began to show that level of form that makes him such a dangerous proposition in a Marcelo Bielsa inspired Leeds United set-up.

For Klich, it was another phoenix from the flames rise akin to that shown by fellow midfielder Kalvin Phillips. He’d been bombed out back to Holland and FC Utrecht, the signs for him being kept on at Elland Road looking ominous. Yet, he was an ever-present for the Whites last season, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists.

Should both go, it will leave a massive hole for the Whites to fill.
