Middlesbrough make initial contact in chase for French front-man.

Jonathan Woodgate and Robbie Keane, in their first full-time coaching roles, have had a nice, smooth start to life on Teeside, maintaining the majority of their squad and making a couple of handy additions. Now they look to add another striker to their ranks.

French media outlet France Football have reported that the North East club have made initial contact for French forward Enzo Crivelli, in the hopes of securing a move ahead of the new Championship campaign.

French club Caen, who were relegated from Ligue 1 last season, will be looking to offload the striker in order to free up funds, so a transfer is likely and Boro have wasted little time in securing their interest in the striker (24).

Cardiff City are also interested in Crivelli, but it is believed that Boro are the only English team to have made their interests known to the French club.

There is no indication of a fee at this moment, but with reports linking striker Britt Assombalonga to a move away from The Riverside, a striker will be high on their list of priorities this summer.

Crivelli played thirty five times for Caen last season, scoring only nine goals, but is this down to the striker missing chances or is it the people around him failing to provide enough good chances, either way, bringing in a relatively unknown player is always a gamble, but sometimes these gambles pay off.
