Leeds United youngster – from PSG interest to first-team debut

When you think of Paris Saint-Germain/PSG, you think of players such as Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Adrien Rabiot to name but three. They have broken the transfer records twice to bring Mbappe and Neymar Jr to the club.

They are always scouring the globe for new talent to add to a playing stock that is already stacked to the gills with excellence. That is par for the course for successful sides, you buy big to continue to build success – it is a very easy platform to understand.

However, news that PSG is interested in a player from Leeds United is something that is not really expected. Yet, according to French source Soccer Link, the Whites could be steeling themselves against interest in young starlet Nohan Kenneh from Les Parisiens.

Soccer Link said that PSG’s “summer recruitment negotiations accelerate in recent weeks” and that a recent restructuring to focus on players aged between 13-18  means that Kenneh has come onto the French club’s radar. With this in mind, they say that PSG is “active” in their hunt for the Leeds United youngster who they say is “one of the greatest talents of his generation.”

Those are big words, big words indeed for a youngster who is only 16. However, excellence doesn’t have a starting age, it doesn’t have a switch that can be flicked to allow it to grind into action. Until Wednesday’s game against Guiseley, Leeds United fans hadn’t had much of a chance to see the powerfully-built youngster in action.

Now they have.

The tall teen impressed on his first-team debut and, as the video above shows, didn’t look out of his depth. Yes, you can point out that he’s playing against National League opposition, that’s a valid point. Yet, if you use that as a criticism then you also have to accept that he was a boy playing against fully-grown men and take that into account.

Many Leeds United fans are saying that the young midfielder has a first-team future ahead of him at Elland Road. That might be jumping the gun somewhat, but you can easily see him bypassing the Under-18s at the West Yorkshire club and turning out for Carlos Corberan’s successful Under-23 outfit more next season.
