It was a strange one, yet a strange one that panicked a fair number of Leeds United fans was the rumour that Rangers were interested in landing Kemar Roofe.
It was a rumour that existed on the proviso that Rangers were accepting that star attacker Alfredo Morales would be sold for around £10million. Then, in that instance said the ones in-the-know, Rangers would swoop for Leeds United hitman Roofe who is in the last year of his current deal.
In all fairness, you could see just why a side like Rangers would be interested in Roofe. He’d hit 15 goals to lead the scoring charts at Elland Road, these 15 goals coming in an injury-hit season.
With Leeds fans beginning to worry, especially bearing in mind the knowledge that the club wouldn’t be particularly active in the transfer window, something positive was needed to be heard.
That came about when it was revealed, finally, that there was actually nothing to the rumour that had been growing. There was no Rangers interest, it was all convoluted nonsense of the highest degree.
As an aside, the Mirror’s David Anderson added the following footnote on his personal Twitter feed:
Just a line on Kemar Roofe being linked with Rangers. Rangers were wrongly told he was available for £2m. He isn’t and Leeds remain in talks with Roofe over a new deal. #lufc

It appears that some chancer contacted Rangers and told them that Roofe was available for £2million, yes just £2million. Thankfully that was all imaginative hot air and Leeds United are still in talks over an improved, extended contract.
However, as written about here on The72 yesterday, the Whites do still need to be a little wary. According to some sources, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace are waiting in the wings and showing a fair degree of interest in Roofe.
