Leeds United are underway with their pre-season campaign, beating York City 5-0 at Bootham Crescent last night. But it is their transfer window that is subject to most scrutiny so far this summer.
The Whites wasted no time in moving within the window, signing no less than five players (Jack Harrison, Ben White, Rafa Mujica, Jack Clarke and Helder Costa) in the space of three days and selling even more, two of which were firmly part of their first team squad last time out in Jack Clarke and Pontus Jansson.
However, Leeds fans have been waiting patiently on an update regarding Liverpool winger Ryan Kent, having been informed earlier this month that the club were definitely looking into the possibility of bringing Kent (22) in on a season-long loan.
Kent spent last season on loan at Rangers in the SPL, playing a huge part in Steven Gerard’s plans, culminating in The Ibrox club being desperate to take Kent back north of the border, but The Mirror have today reported that Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has made a decision on the future of the winger.
According to the report, Klopp will NOT allow the player to leave Anfield just yet and will involve Kent heavily in his pre-season plans, using it as an opportunity to take a closer look at him and ultimately cover for the missing Mo Saleh, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane for the game against Tranmere at least through international duty.
Kent would love to impress the Liverpool boss, hoping it would propel him into his boyhood clubs plans for the coming season.
But it seems Marcelo Bielsa will miss out on the winger as the Argentinian steps up preparations for next season. Do Leeds have sufficient cover on the wings or will they need to source another target?
