Aston Villa have today completed the signing of Brentford defender Ezri Konsa as confirmed on their official website.

The defender links up again with Dean Smith having worked under him previously when he was manager of the Bees.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive spell at Brentford and has now signed a deal worth in the region of £12million as he becomes Villa’s seventh signing of a very busy summer transfer window thus far.

Konsa has expressed his delight at sealing a move to the Premier League. “I am over the moon. To join such a historic, massive club like Aston Villa is great. I can’t wait to meet the lads now and get started.”

“To be honest, I am speechless right now. It’s a dream come true. As a little kid, I always used to dream about playing in the Premier League. For it to come true now is a fantastic feeling for me and my family.”

The talented young defender joined Brentford from Charlton and has also gained international experience with the England Under 20’s.

Villa boss Dean Smith believes that Konsa has huge potential and can really establish himself as a Premier League player.

“He’s a high-potential player who I believe can step up to the Premier League and I’m really looking forward to working with him again,” said Smith.

This is another big statement from Aston Villa as they look to secure their Premier League status next season. With various quality signings coming in, they are already looking stronger with more strength in depth which is what they will need with the huge challenge to come.
