Hull City’s trainee defender impresses in pre-season friendly after Peterborough United release

Defender Ryan Tafazolli is currently with the Hull City squad for their pre-season tour of Spain, featuring in the club’s 2-2 draw against League Two outfit Leyton Orient.

After his release from League One side Peterborough United, centre-back Ryan Tafazolli has been said to have attracted interest from a number of Championship sides. But, it is Hull City who stands the best chance of bringing the 27-year-old in this summer.

As reported here on The72, it was revealed that Tafazolli has held advanced talks with Hull City over a possible move ahead of the new season, and the free agent is currently in Marbella with the club for their pre-season tour. He is looking to secure a contract with the club ahead of the new season.

And his hopes will have only been boosted by the latest development. His 45-minute display in their pre-season friendly with Leyton Orient impressed McCann, showing a dangerous aerial presence and comfort on the ball, performing well alongside Reece Burke.

Should he make a move to the KCOM Stadium, Tafazolli will link up with former manager Grant McCann, who he played under at Peterborough United. Now, after McCann made the move from Doncaster to Hull City, the two look like they will link up once again.

Tafazolli has amassed plenty of Football League experience with Mansfield Town and Posh, playing 118 times for the Stags and 131 times for Posh. After proving himself in League One and League Two, the defender is ready to make the step up to the Championship to prove himself in the second tier.
