Nottingham Forest midfielder subject of low bid from Sheffield United – but return move is likely

Respected journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Premier League side Sheffield United have made a bid to try and tempt midfielder Ben Osborn away from Championship club Nottingham Forest.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder will be looking to ramp up the Blades’ summer transfer business over the course of the next few weeks with the start of the Premier League season coming closer and closer. And, it has been claimed that he has made an attempt to try and bring a Championship midfielder up into the top flight with him.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported on Twitter (see below) that the Blades have submitted a “lowish” offer for Nottingham Forest man Ben Osborn, which has seemingly been knocked back by Forest. He also added that the Premier League side’s pursuit for the 24-year-old is “not over yet”.

Osborn has been a key player for Nottingham Forest during his time with the club, spending his entire career to date at the City Ground. Overall, he has played 230 times for the club, scoring 16 goals and providing 31 assists along the way (Transfermarkt).

Osborn has played in a number of positions during his time at the club, displaying the versatility that would appeal to Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder as he looks to bolster his ranks. Mainly operating as a left midfielder, Osborn has also played in the middle of the park and at left back, featuring further forward on occasion as well.

Forest will be determined to keep Osborn at the City Ground as they head into a new managerial era under Sabri Lamouchi, with an improvement on last season’s 9th place finish the objective.
