Will Hughes – Derby County
It is easy to forget that Derby County’s main man is still under the age of 20. Will Hughes has two full seasons under his belt and, under the tutelage of ex-England boss Steve McClaren, is sure to continue to improve his game this season. The 19-year-old is seen as an exciting prospect by Football League fans but also by those involved in the England set-up and Hughes has made a couple of appearances for the England under-21’s side. Hughes has ability in abundance and has an eye for a defence splitting pass which helped Derby to the play-off final last season, after an indifferent start to the season. The only element lacking from Hughes’ game is goals – he has only a handful to his name but he has plenty of years still to improve this and, if he does, it could be difficult for Derby to fend off interest from the top clubs in England.
