Derby have confirmed a loan move for Blackburn Rovers and Republic of Ireland striker Leon Best.

The Rams have been looking to bolster their options in the position throughout the Summer, and Best could provide solid backup to last season’s top scorer Chris Martin.

Best left his mark on Derby fans last year when his spectacular finish snatched Blackburn a point at the iPro on the opening day of the campaign. Despite his injury hampered history, Steve Mclaren will be hoping that a season long loan will pay off and provide the depth required to make a significant promotion push.

Best’s arrival may well spell the departure of fellow Republic of Ireland striker Connor Salmon. Derby have also signed trialist Shaquille McDonald and it has been no secret that they have been shopping Sammon out all Summer, with Ipswich Town being heavily linked.
