Ex-Barnsley, Ipswich Town and Mansfield man set for Stevenage transfer

Stevenage are set to sign midfielder Paul Digby from Forest Green Rovers.

The 24-year-old is on the verge of a move to Broadhall Way, according to a report by Gloucestershire Live.

Digby, who is a former England Under-20 international, made 45 appearances for Forest Green last season and played a key part in them getting into the League Two Play-Offs.

Stevenage are in the hunt for some signings to bolster their squad ahead of the next campaign. Dino Maamria wants to boost his midfield options by landing Digby.

The Sheffield-born midfielder started his career at Barnsley and rose up through the youth ranks at Oakwell. He made his first-team debut for the Tykes in a Championship fixture against Derby County in September 2011.

He went onto play 25 times for the Reds but left in January 2016 to join Ipswich Town, initially on loan but his move to Portman Road was made permanent six months later.

Digby only made a handful of appearances for the Tractor Boys and left them in May 2017 to join League Two side Mansfield Town in search of more first-team football.

He played 25 games in all competitions for the Stags in his only season at the club and signed for Forest Green last summer.

He enjoyed his time at The New Lawn in the last campaign and made a big impression for Mark Cooper’s side. Digby will now be looking to get into the Play-Offs again next season with Stevenage.
