Martin O’Neill has just been sacked as Nottingham Forest manager and has been replaced by former Rennes manager, Sabri Lamouchi.
Forest had looked set to sign the young stopper when Martin O’Neill was in charge, but his dismissal threatened to ruin some of the work which had gone in to identifying summer transfer targets.
However, according to Alan Nixon, a move for City man Muric is indeed still on for the Reds, with the club reportedly agreeing a deal for Muric before Sabri Lamouchi took the reins a few days ago.
Muric is held in high regard at City, where Pep Guardiola believes he could become their first choice stopper in the long-term, if he can maintain his development.
And the Premier League big guns are happy to allow the Kosovan international to move to the City Ground.
It is understood that Forest are only waiting for the final pieces of red tape to be cleared, before the deal can be confirmed.
The Reds are desperate for some new signings this summer and Man City youngster Muric is regarded as one of the top young goalkeepers in the Premier League, despite not getting a look in at the Etihad thanks to the form of Brazilian, Ederson.
