Former Bradford City, Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town midfielder wanted by Gillingham and Salford City

Former Bradford City, Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town attacking midfielder Jack Payne is being targeted by Gillingham and Salford, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Former Bradford City, Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town attacking midfielder Jack Payne is being targeted by League One side Gillingham and League Two side Salford ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Alan Nixon tweeted: “GILLINGHAM. Making bold bid for Jack Payne. SALFORD in there too. Among others.

The 24-year-old made 39 appearances in League One for Bradford City last season, he scored nine goals and provided five assists. He managed to score on his debut for Bradford City against Shrewsbury Town on the opening day of the 2018–19 season.

Jack Payne made history at Southend United in 2015/16, becoming the first player in the Club’s history to win the Shrimpers Trust Player of the Season, Junior Blues Player of the Season and Goal of the Season prizes at the conclusion of the campaign.

That season ended in promotion to Sky Bet League 1 for Southend United, with Jack playing in the Play-Off Final and stepping up to score a penalty in the deciding shootout against Wycombe Wanderers.

Jack Payne began the 2017/18 season on loan at Oxford United before being recalled in January and subsequently joining Blackburn Rovers, collecting 10 assists and four goals in Sky Bet League 1 action for both sides.

In January 2018, it was believed that Millwall, Peterborough United and Luton Town all wanted to sign Jack Payne which shows that he would be a massive coup for either Gillingham or Salford City.
