West Brom and Wigan in the race for Nottingham Forest target from Aston Villa

West Brom and Wigan are in the race for Nottingham Forest target Alan Hutton from Aston Villa, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Championship sides’ West Brom and Wigan have joined the race for Nottingham Forest target Alan Hutton from Aston Villa.

Alan Nixon tweeted: “FOREST. Muric thing still on. Deal agreed in advance of managerial change. Hutton up in air. WEST BROM joined WIGAN in chase for him.

The 34-year-old joined Aston Villa in 2011 and managed to make 173 appearances in his 8-year spell with the club.

Alan Hutton made 33 appearances and netted two goals for Aston Villa last season, and he posted a farewell message to their fans.

His message said: “I’d like the thank @avfcofficial for an amazing 8 years.

“I have met so many brilliant people along the way, that I can now say are friends for life.

“All good things must come to an end, but wow it couldn’t of ended any better!

“A MASSIVE thanks has to go to the fans, you stuck by me through thick and thin. It will live with me for ever. Love you all 💜💜. #UTV”

West Brom are looking for an alternative right-back ahead of 2019/20 campaign after Mason Holgate returned to his parent club Everton.

West Brom’s technical director Luke Dowling spoke to Birmingham Live about the plans to strengthen their squad for next season.

He said: “We had seven loan players – they’ve gone and need replacing. We’ve got a kitty, and if one or two others leave then there’ll be more to spend.
