QPR looking to strike deal with Ipswich Town for experienced winger

QPR want to sign Ipswich Town winger Alan Judge.

The new Hoops boss Mark Warburton knows the 30-year-old well from managing him in the past at Brentford and is keen on bringing him to Loftus Road this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

QPR have been busy in this transfer window as Warburton looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad. They have brought in the likes of Liam Kelly from Livingston, Lee Wallace from Rangers and Yoann Barbet from Brentford thus far.

They have now set their sights on Judge as they look for a replacement for Luke Freeman, who is being heavily linked with a move to Premier League side Sheffield United.

Judge, who is a Republic of Ireland international with six caps to his name, only joined Ipswich in the January transfer window from the Bees but couldn’t prevent them from slipping into League One. He has two years on his deal at Portman Road.

The 5ft 7inc midfielder started his career in Ireland before moving over to England to join Blackburn Rovers in 2008. He has had since had other spells at Plymouth Argyle and Notts County before joining Brentford in 2014.

Judge became a key player for the London side and played 140 games for them, scoring 26 goals. He played a massive role in their promotion to the Championship under Warburton and then helped them get to the Play-Offs in the second tier in 2015.
